Internships

Interviews are arranged at a variety of possible internship sites for general students during orientation, and students work with the CS staff to make a match for the semester.  Student teachers and nursing students are placed at a site by the CS staff and social work students interview the semester before their arrival. 

Housing

Apartments are arranged for students before the semester begins.  During orientation, students visit the buildings and choose apartments and roommates for the semester.

Seminars

All general students enroll in two seminars plus practicum group.  Special tracks including student teaching, social work, and nursing attend a professional seminar and occasionally an additional CS seminar.

Transportation

Unlimited use of public transportation for the semester is only $70 per student.

Requirements

Students must be a junior or senior at a participating college with a 2.5 cumulative GPA or above.  Students of ANY major can attend.

Cost

Students pay regular tuition to college and room and board financial aid transfers to pay for costs in Chicago.  All financial aid (i.e. loans and scholarships) should apply as usual.

Recognition

In 2002, Chicago Semester was named the Experiential Education Program of the Year by the National Society for Experiential Education (NSEE).
