Step 1 - On-campus Procedure

Checklist for Aquinas students applying for Chicago Semester

  • Speak with CS representative Annie Thompson at info table or contact her directly. Phone: (312) 922-3243 x11; e-mail: anniet@chicagosemester.org

  • Call x2905 to schedule an appointment with Lauretta Simpson.  You will be registered as a Chicago Semester Candidate.

  • Visit Financial Aid office for questions regarding your financial aid package.

  • Follow CS application procedure on the website. 

a) For "Course Registration and Credit" type 9 credits for internship; type general elective or major elective for course; choose 2 seminars for 3 credits each -these are also general elective. EXCEPTION: Education majors doing student teaching should type 9 credits for internship, major for course, and choose 1 seminar for 3 credits as a general elective.

  • Give letter of recommendation form to 1 professor and 1 other reference or 2 professors.

a) They may fill out the form by hand.

b) Instruct them to forward the completed recommendation form to Lauretta Simpson at Career Services. (I recommend you provide a pre-addressed envelope to your reference for this purpose.) Please note: The references who are providing your letters of recommendation may need a reminder; follow up with them as often as necessary.

  • Visit the Department Chair of your major to get the application signed. You should also talk with you academic advisor to see how a semester in Chicago effects your academic plan.

  • Make an appointment with a Career Services staff member if you need help updating/revising your resume.

  • Obtain an official transcript from the registrar's office (lower level Hruby Hall.) If you are a transfer student you will need official transcripts from prior schools also. The 1st official transcript of your AQ Career is free. Subsequent requests cost $5.00 for one plus additional copies at 50 cents each. Request the transcripts be delivered to Career Services. PLEASE NOTE: Make certain you have no holds (library fines, parking tickets) on your account. Check with student accounts the same day you order your transcript to be certain your account is clear. Your transcript will not be released if you have a hold and they will only notify you by sending a letter to your permanent address. You won’t know they are not sending the transcript. Plan ahead; this process can take 5-7 days.

  • Make a copy of all application materials.

  • Please return completed applications to Lauretta Simpson in Career Services by the following date:
Fall Semester Last week in February
Spring Semester Last week in April
